West Indies Captain Powell Urges Narine to Withdraw Retirement
In the Indian Premier League (IPL) match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Tuesday, Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) opener Sunil Narine scored 109 runs off 56 balls.
After the match, Rajasthan Royals’ captain Rovman Powell said, “We have been requesting Sunil Narine to reconsider his retirement. We hope that before the T20 World Cup, he will change his mind.”
T20 World Cup to be hosted only in the West Indies
T20 World Cup will be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the United States starting from June 1. Sunil Narine retired from international cricket last year. The probable list of the World Cup will be sent to the International Cricket Council (ICC) by May 1.
In a conversation with broadcasters, Powell said, “For the last 12 months, I have been requesting Sunil to return to the West Indies T20 team. He has kept everyone guessing. I have explained to him, along with his best friends Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, and Nicholas Pooran, to reconsider his retirement. I hope we can convince him before the T20 World Cup.”
All Rajasthan players are in good Form
Powell said, “When we talk about the Rajasthan Royals team, the players are in good condition and will continue to be so for a long time. I bat at number 4 or 5 for the West Indies and if you think West Indies has a good T20 team, you can consider me for selection. I keep discussing this with the team management as well.”Powell is playing the role of finisher for Rajasthan Royals.
