A video of former Indian batsman Vinod Kambli has gone viral. In the video, two people are seen supporting him as he struggles to walk. Kambli, who is 52 years old, is reportedly in poor health.

Health Issues and Depression

According to reports, Kambli is suffering from heart-related issues as well as depression. He is on medication and requires regular hospital visits.

Supported by Two People in the Video

The video shows Kambli standing near a bike. After a while, he begins to stagger, and one person steps forward to support him. Kambli signals to a couple of other people, who come and help him walk away.

Kambli’s Cricket Career

Kambli played 17 Test matches and 104 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for India. He scored 2,477 runs in ODI cricket, including 2 centuries and 14 half-centuries. In Test cricket, he made 1,084 runs with 4 centuries. He played for India from 1993 to 2000.

Kambli was last seen in domestic cricket in 2004. In first-class cricket, he scored 9,665 runs, with his highest score being 262.

Debut with Sachin Tendulkar

Kambli and Sachin Tendulkar are childhood friends. They both debuted together in Mumbai’s famous Kanga League. Tendulkar and Kambli set a world record partnership of 664 runs while playing for Shardashram School.

In this partnership, Kambli remained unbeaten with 349 runs. This brought both players into the limelight. Tendulkar debuted in Ranji Trophy in 1988, while Kambli got his chance a year later in 1989.

Vinod Kambli’s Personal Life

Kambli’s personal life has also been tumultuous. He first married a Christian girl named Noella, but the marriage did not last. Kambli later fell in love with fashion model Andrea Hewitt. They got married and are still together. In June 2010, Andrea gave birth to their son, Jesus Cristiano.

The Emotional Moment on the Field

On March 13, 1996, the World Cup semi-final between India and Sri Lanka was played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Sri Lanka scored 251 runs. In response, India was in a good position at 98 for 1, but after Tendulkar’s dismissal, the batting order collapsed, and the team was at 120 for 8.

With 35 overs gone, India needed 132 runs from 156 balls. Vinod Kambli was on 10, and Anil Kumble was yet to score. Spectators began throwing bottles on the field, and a fire broke out in one section of the stadium. The match was stopped, and Sri Lanka was declared the winner. Kambli was seen crying as he left the field.

Worked in Some Flop Films

After retiring from cricket in 2000, Kambli turned to films. In 2002, the movie ‘Anarth,’ starring Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, and Preeti Jhangiani, was released. Directed by Ravi Dewan, the film was a massive flop. In 2009, Kambli tried his hand again with the movie ‘Pal Pal Dil Ke Saath.’ Directed by VK Kumar, the film featured his former cricketer friend Ajay Jadeja and Mahi Gill, but it also failed to win the audience’s hearts.

Kambli Suffered a Heart Attack

After his film career flopped, Kambli ventured into politics. He became a member of the Lok Bharati Party. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Kambli contested from the Vikhroli constituency but faced disappointment in this arena as well. A few years ago, Kambli suffered a heart attack, and since then, he has been almost absent from cricket, TV, and cinema screens.
