Rohit Sharma Provides Update on Shami’s Fitness: Fast Bowler to Miss Australia Tour
Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami will not be a part of the upcoming Australia tour. Indian Test captain Rohit Sharma gave a major update on Shami’s fitness during a press briefing in Bengaluru ahead of the New Zealand Test. Rohit confirmed that Shami is still recovering from his knee injury and will not be fit in time for the Australia series.
Shami’s Fitness Concerns
When asked about Shami’s fitness, the 37-year-old Indian captain said, “It’s difficult to make a decision about Shami for the Australia series. His knee is swollen, which has set him back a bit, and he will need to restart his preparations. He’s currently at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). We don’t want to take Shami to Australia unless he is fully ready. We’ll have to wait and see how things progress.”
