Former Cricketer Salil Ankola’s Mother’s Body Found: Signs of Injury on Neck, Suspected Homicide; Was Living Alone at Home

The body of Mala Ashok Ankola (77), mother of former cricketer Salil Ankola, was found under suspicious circumstances at their home on Prabhat Road in Pune. There were signs of injury on her face. The police are treating it as a homicide. 

She was alone at home. Upon receiving the information, the police took her to a hospital in Pune, where doctors declared her dead. An investigation into the matter has been initiated by the police.

Signs of Violence Found on Mala Ankola

According to the information received, when the helper arrived at the house in the afternoon to work and rang the doorbell, the door did not open. Subsequently, the helper called Mala Ankola’s daughter to inform her. 

It was then that the helper’s husband opened the door. At that time, Mala Ankola was found lying in a pool of blood, with a knife wound to her neck. The helper reported this incident to the police. The police arrived at the scene and she was taken to the hospital.

Salil Ankola has played one Test and 20 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for Team India. In ODIs, he took 13 wickets, while in Tests, he claimed two wickets. 

Additionally, he has played a total of 54 first-class matches and 75 List A matches throughout his career.

Salil Ankola made his Test debut against Pakistan in Karachi on November 15, 1989. However, this match turned out to be his only Test appearance. His first wicket was that of Saleem Malik. 

Ankola made his ODI debut against Pakistan in 1989, with his first ODI wicket being Imran Khan. He played his final match in 1997 in Durban under the captaincy of Sachin Tendulkar.
