Rohit Sharma Rises to Second Place in Latest ICC ODI Rankings 2024
Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has climbed to the second position in the latest ODI rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC). His impressive performance in the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka has contributed to his rise in the rankings.
Rohit has surpassed his opening partner Shubman Gill, who now occupies the third spot with 765 rating points. India has three players in the top 10, while Pakistan’s Babar Azam continues to hold the top spot.
Rohit Sharma’s Consistent Performance Against Sri Lanka
Rohit Sharma was the highest run-scorer in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. He scored 157 runs across three matches at an average of 52.33 and a strike rate of 141.44, including two half-centuries. His scores in the series were 58, 64, and 35 runs respectively. Despite his efforts, most of the other Indian batters struggled, and India lost the series 0-2, with the first match ending in a tie.
Keshav Maharaj Leads ODI Bowling Rankings
In the ODI bowling rankings, South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj has taken the top spot with 716 rating points. He is followed by Australia’s Josh Hazlewood (688) in second place, Adam Zampa (686) in third, India’s Kuldeep Yadav (665) in fourth, and Namibia’s Bernard Scholtz (657) in fifth place.
No Indian Players in Top 10 ODI All-Rounders
Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi is the world’s number one all-rounder in the ICC ODI rankings with 320 rating points. Notably, there are no Indian players in the top 10 of the all-rounder rankings. Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan (292) holds the second spot, followed by Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza (288) in third, Papua New Guinea’s Assad Vala (248) in fourth, and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan (239) in fifth.
