Rohit to Lead in WTC Final and Champions Trophy: Confident of Winning Both, Says Jay Shah
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has stated that after the T-20 World Cup, under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, we will win the Champions Trophy and the World Test Championship (WTC) final in 2025.
Shah Congratulates Team India on T-20 World Cup Win
Shah released a video congratulating Team India on their T-20 World Cup victory. He said,
“I mentioned in Rajkot that in June 2024, we will win hearts along with the cup. We will also wave the Indian flag, and our captain hoisted the flag. The last five overs played a significant role in this victory. I want to thank Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya for their contributions. After this victory, the next stage is the WTC final and the Champions Trophy. I am confident that under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, we will become champions in both tournaments.”
Shah Dedicates T20 World Cup Win to Dravid, Rohit, Kohli, and Jadeja
Shah said, “I want to dedicate the T20 World Cup victory to coach Rahul Dravid, captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja. This was our third final in the last year. In June 2023, we lost the World Test Championship final. After ten wins in November 2023, we won hearts but couldn’t win the cup.”
Champions Trophy in Pakistan and WTC Final in England
The Champions Trophy is set to be played in Pakistan in 2025. The first match of the Champions Trophy will be held on February 19, 2025, and the final match will be played on March 9. Meanwhile, the World Test Championship final of 2025 will be played at Lord’s in London in June.
India Wins T-20 World Cup for the Second Time
India has won the T-20 World Cup for the second time. The first victory was in 2007. Seventeen years ago, when Team India won the T-20 World Cup, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the captain. Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, Team India won the T-20 World Cup in 2024. The last time India won the ODI World Cup was in 2011.
