Another Achievement for Ravindra Jadeja: Becomes the 7th Indian Bowler to Claim 300 Test Wickets

In the second Test match between India and Bangladesh taking place in Kanpur, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja claimed one wicket, reaching a milestone of 300 wickets in Test cricket. Jadeja achieved this feat by catching Khalid Ahmed off his own bowling.

With this achievement, Jadeja has become the first left-arm spinner in the history of Indian Test cricket to take 300 wickets.

Jadeja: Asia’s Only Left-Arm Spinner with 300 Test Wickets

Previously, the left-arm spinner with the most wickets in Test cricket was Bishan Singh Bedi, who took 266 wickets. However, Jadeja has now set a new record by claiming 300 wickets. He is the third left-arm spinner in the world to achieve this milestone. The left-arm spinner with the most Test wickets is Sri Lanka’s Rangana Herath, who has 433 wickets, followed by New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori with 362 wickets.

Notably, Jadeja is the only left-arm spinner from Asia to have taken over 300 wickets in Tests while also scoring more than 3,000 runs. With this achievement, Jadeja has become the seventh Indian bowler to reach 300 Test wickets.

Jadeja Joins Elite Company with 300 Wickets Milestone

With the achievement of reaching 300 wickets, Ravindra Jadeja has surpassed legendary players like Imran Khan and Kapil Dev. Jadeja accomplished this remarkable feat in just 74 Test matches, amassing over 3,000 runs and 300 wickets. In comparison, Imran Khan achieved this milestone in 75 Tests, while Kapil Dev did so in 83 Tests.

Aside from Jadeja, only Ian Botham has managed to score over 3,000 runs and take more than 300 wickets in just 72 Tests. This places Jadeja among an elite group of cricketers who have reached significant milestones in both batting and bowling.

Jadeja Outshines Kumble with Impressive Bowling Average

In this achievement, Ravindra Jadeja has notably surpassed legendary spinner Anil Kumble by completing 300 Test wickets with a better bowling average. Jadeja’s bowling average stands at 23.99, while Kumble finished with an average of 29.65 for his 300 wickets.

When it comes to batting, Jadeja also holds a superior Test average compared to KL Rahul. Jadeja has a batting average of 36.73, whereas KL Rahul’s Test batting average is 34.13. This highlights Jadeja’s all-round capabilities and solidifies his position as one of the top players in the game.
