Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh Make History, Win Bronze in Mixed Doubles Shooting

India had hoped to win a bronze medal in the air pistol mixed doubles event, and that hope has been fulfilled.
Haryana’s Manu Bhaker has delivered the country’s second medal. Together with Sarabjot Singh, she won bronze in the 10-meter air pistol mixed doubles event, becoming the first Indian to achieve this feat.
Manu Bhaker’s Historic Achievement Continues
Manu Bhaker had previously won a bronze medal in the individual 10-meter air pistol event. This 22-year-old athlete from Haryana has made history.
Manu demonstrated remarkable patience and an outstanding performance in this event as well, consistently showcasing her dominance. Sarabjot Singh, also a 22-year-old athlete from Haryana, partnered with her in the mixed doubles event.
Manu Bhaker: The First Indian to Win Two Medals in a Single Olympics
Manu Bhaker has made history by becoming the first Indian to win two medals in a single Olympics. India defeated South Korea’s Oh Ye-jin and Lee Won-ho 16-10 in the bronze medal match. India won eight rounds, while Korea secured five. In this competition, the first team to reach 16 points wins.
Before Manu, no Indian athlete from independent India had won two medals in a single Olympics. While Norman Pritchard won two medals in the 1900 Olympics, he was originally British. Manu Bhaker is the first Indian to achieve this feat.
Manu also became the only woman to win a medal in the individual 10-meter air pistol event. Sarabjot Singh, who won his first Olympic medal, initially struggled in the bronze medal match but made a remarkable comeback, winning three consecutive rounds and eventually leading in total points to secure the bronze. Manu has brought pride to her family and her country with her achievements.
