Manika Batra Vows to Avoid Past Mistakes at Tokyo: Focuses on One Match at a Time
Manika Batra Determined Not to Repeat Tokyo Mistakes Ahead of Paris Olympics
India’s star table tennis player, Manika Batra, has expressed her determination not to repeat the mistakes made during the Tokyo Olympics as she prepares for the Paris Olympics. On Monday, the 29-year-old said that she learned a lot from her experience in Tokyo. In the Paris Games, she plans to focus on one match at a time and not let the thought of winning a medal in the early stages cloud her mind.
Learning from Past Mistakes
Before the Olympics, Batra told UTT, “I have learned a lot from the previous Olympic Games and this time I will not repeat the mistakes I made. Since then, my mindset has changed. I have become calmer and more confident in myself.”
Manika is part of the Indian team for her second consecutive Olympic Games. She will compete in both singles and team events. The table tennis matches at the Olympic Games, starting on July 26, will be held from July 27 to August 11.
Focusing on Strength and Agility
Batra emphasized that she is focusing on her strength and agility, with her ultimate goal being to challenge for a medal. “I will progress gradually. I am trying to reach a position where I can perform at my best.”
She added, “I will take it match by match and not think about the medal initially. I want to give my best performance for my country.”
A Significant Opportunity for a Medal
Batra played a crucial role in securing a spot for the Indian women’s team at the Paris Olympics. This is the first time the Indian table tennis team has qualified for the Olympics.
Batra said, “India has qualified for the first time (for the Olympics), and this is a great achievement. I am very happy that we are practicing together (in the camp). I feel that we have a chance to win a medal, and we should give our best performance.”
