KKR Pacer Harshit Rana Suspended for One Match: Second Violation of IPL Code of Conduct Against Delhi Capitals This Season

Kolkata Knight Riders’ fast bowler, Harshit Rana, has been slapped with a match ban. The ban comes in response to a breach of conduct during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Delhi Capitals at Eden Gardens.

Alongside the match ban, Rana has also been fined 100% of his match fee for the offense. According to IPL authorities, Rana violated clause 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which falls under level 1 offenses. Rana has accepted the charge and the approval of the match referee.

Harshit Rana Penalized for Second Time This Season

Harshit Rana has faced yet another penalty this season. Previously, during KKR’s first home match, Rana was fined 60% of his match fee for giving a flying kiss to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batter Mayank Agarwal after dismissing him, in what seemed like a gesture of taunting.

This time around, Rana has incurred another penalty during the ongoing IPL season. The 22-year-old fast bowler’s behavior didn’t sit well with seasoned commentator Sunil Gavaskar, who expressed displeasure over such actions.

Gavaskar emphasized the need for fast bowlers to celebrate their success with their teammates rather than indulging in actions that could dampen the spirit of the moment.

Harshit Rana took the wickets of Mayank Agarwal, Shahbad Ahmed and Henrik Klaassen.

Reason for Penalty Against DC Unclear

It remains unclear what exactly Harshit Rana did during the match that led to his penalty. The incident occurred either during the innings break, during the intervals between overs, before or after the match, or off the field.

Further details regarding the specific actions that prompted the penalty have not been disclosed.

KKR Suffers 7-Wicket Loss to Delhi Capitals

In the 47th match of IPL 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders faced a defeat against Delhi Capitals, losing by 7 wickets. This marks the second time this season that KKR has been defeated by DC.

With this victory, Kolkata maintains its second position on the points table. After 9 matches, KKR has accumulated 12 points. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals have played 11 matches and secured only 10 points.
