IPL 2025 Dates Announced Before Auction: Teams Receive Three-Season Schedule; All Countries Approve Player Participation
The upcoming IPL season will begin on March 14 and conclude on May 25. This information was communicated to the teams via email by the IPL on Thursday. According to Cricinfo, the IPL has sent the draft schedule for the next three seasons to all teams, but these dates are likely to be final.
The 2026 season will run from March 15 to May 31, while the 2027 season is scheduled from March 14 to May 30. The 2025 season will feature 74 matches, similar to the previous three seasons.
Although there was discussion of having 84 matches per season when the BCCI sold its media rights, this has yet to be implemented. No official statement has been issued by the IPL or BCCI regarding this matter so far.
Foreign Players’ Availability Confirmed for IPL’s Next Three Seasons
In an email sent by the IPL, it has been claimed that foreign players have agreed to participate in the upcoming three seasons.
These players have received permission from their respective boards to play during this period. However, players from Pakistan are not included in this arrangement.
Cricket Boards Approve Foreign Players for IPL 2025, 2026, and 2027
The Cricket Australia board has granted permission for its domestic and international players to participate in the IPL 2025 season. After the T20 World Cup scheduled for February-March 2026, the Australian team will play a three-match ODI series against Pakistan, which will conclude before March 18. In 2027, to mark 150 years of Test cricket, Australia and England will play a single Test match in March, after which Australian players will be available for the IPL.
The England and Wales Cricket Board has also released a list of centrally contracted players who will be available for the IPL over the next three seasons. However, England’s Test captain, Ben Stokes, is notably absent from the list. Stokes will not participate in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.
The list of fully available players between 2025 and 2027 includes Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Jonny Bairstow, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Jos Buttler, Brydon Carse, Zak Crawley, Sam Curran, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Liam Livingstone, Ollie Pope, Matthew Potts, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Ollie Stone, and Reece Topley.
Sri Lanka Cricket Approves Player Availability for IPL 2025, 2026, and 2027
Sri Lanka Cricket has confirmed that its players will be fully available for the 2025 IPL season. Players who are retained for the 2026 and 2027 seasons will also be made available for these seasons as well.
Bangladesh Cricket Board Submits List of 13 Players for IPL Availability
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has sent a list of 13 players, with varying availability over the next three years. The list includes Taskin Ahmed, Litton Das, Mehedi Hasan, Shakib Al Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Towhid Hridoy, Shariful Islam, Shohidul Islam, Hasan Mahmood, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, Naheed Rana, and Tanzin Hasan Shakib.
Additionally, players from South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, and Zimbabwe will be fully available for the IPL during this period.
