IPL 2024 Mini Auction: Teams Gear Up with Rs. 100 Crore in Dubai on December 19

The 2024 IPL auction is scheduled to take place in Dubai on December 19. This will be the first time that the IPL auction will be held outside India, although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not officially confirmed any details regarding this as of yet.

According to cricket website Cricinfo, IPL teams have until November 15 to submit their list of retained and released players. This submission will provide the IPL administration with a clear picture of which players are available for bidding. Following this, the auction pool will be prepared in the first week of December.

In the previous year’s auction, teams were allowed to spend over 5 crores INR to build their squads. Media reports suggest that for the upcoming season, the purse available to teams for creating their squads will be increased to over 100 crores INR. This is in addition to the amount remaining from the previous season, which is typically rolled over for the next auction.

The increase in the purse available to teams is expected to lead to intense bidding wars as they look to secure top talent for the 2024 IPL season. Please note that these details are subject to confirmation from the BCCI as the official announcement is yet to be made.

For the 2024 IPL season, the Punjab Kings will have the highest purse available among all the IPL teams. The Punjab Kings currently have the largest purse, with 12.20 crores INR remaining from the previous season. In contrast, the Mumbai Indians have the lowest purse available, with only 0.05 crores INR left from the previous season. The Sunrisers Hyderabad have the second-highest purse.

The increase in purse amounts for teams is part of the preparation for the 2024 IPL season. Each team’s purse is expected to play a crucial role in the auction as they bid for players to build their squads. With a significant increase in available funds, bidding wars for top talent are anticipated.

It’s worth noting that the amounts mentioned are subject to confirmation by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) once they officially announce the details of the auction. The IPL mega auction usually takes place every four years, with mini-auctions occurring in the intervening years. This time, mini-auctions are expected to feature many foreign players, making it an exciting prospect for IPL teams and fans. Players like Mitchell Starc, Sam Billings, Gerald Coetzee, Travis Head, and Chris Woakes could be part of the auction.

Please keep an eye on official announcements for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding the IPL 2024 season and its auction.
