Indian Men’s and Women’s 4x400m Relay Teams Qualify for Paris Olympics

The Indian men’s and women’s relay teams have qualified for the 4×400-meter relay at the Paris Olympics. The Indian women’s team was competing in the second round of the World Athletics Relays being held in the Bahamas on Monday. The men’s team also secured qualification by finishing second in their heat and securing a spot for Paris.

In the women’s 4x400m relay, the Indian team comprising Rupal Chaudhari, MR Poovamma, Jyotika Sri Dandi, and Subha Venkatesan finished first with a time of 3 minutes and 29.35 seconds, while the Jamaican team finished in first place with a time of 3 minutes and 28.54 seconds.

Men’s 4x400m Relay Results

In the men’s 4x400m relay, the team consisting of Mohammad Anas Yahiya, Mohammad Ajmal, Arokia Rajiv, and Amoj Jacob finished second with a time of 3 minutes and 23.23 seconds. Meanwhile, the USA men’s team secured first place with a time of 2 minutes and 59.9 seconds.

Men’s and Women’s Teams Fail to Qualify in the First Round

The Indian women’s team, in the qualifying heats on Sunday, finished fifth with a time of 3 minutes and 29.74 seconds. Meanwhile, due to a mishap during the baton exchange, the men’s team could not qualify in the first heat.

Only the top two teams from the third heat will receive Olympic quotas. Hence, both the Indian men’s and women’s teams, finishing in the second position in the second heat, still have a chance to qualify for the Olympics.
