India Takes 162-run Lead in First Test: Jayaswal Shines, Rohit’s Century

The first match of the India-West Indies Test series is currently taking place at Windsor Park in Dominica. Until the end of the second day’s stumps, Team India had scored 312 runs for the loss of 2 wickets and has a lead of 162 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli are unbeaten. On the first day, the game was completely in favor of Team India. Winning the toss, India chose to bat first, while the Windies team was dismissed for 150 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin took 5 wickets for India, while no Caribbean batter could score a fifty.

He became the third Indian bowler to take 700+ wickets. Prior to him, only Anil Kumble (956 wickets) and Harbhajan Singh (711 wickets) had achieved this feat.

Ashwin reached the fourth position in terms of taking the most wickets against West Indies. He surpassed Bhagwat Chandrasekhar’s record of 65 wickets and left behind Bishan Singh Bedi (62 wickets). Ashwin has taken 65 wickets against the Caribbean team in 12 matches.

First session of the first day was dominated by Indian bowlers. In this session, West Indies lost four wickets for 68 runs. Captain Craig Braithwaite scored 20 runs, Jermaine Blackwood scored 14 runs, Roston Chase scored 2 runs, and Tejnarayan Chanderpaul scored 12 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin took two wickets. Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur each took one wicket.

Caribbean Lost 4 Wickets For 69 Runs in Second Session

The second session of the day was also in favor of the Indian bowlers. The West Indies lost four wickets for 69 runs. In this session, Ashwin took two wickets, while Siraj and Jadeja took one wicket each.

Rohit-Jayaswal Had Last Session

In the last session of the first day, Indian opener Rohit Sharma and debutant Shubman Gill were at the crease. They scored 93 runs in this session and lost 2 wickets. While West Indies took the last two wickets, giving away 13 runs, India scored 80 runs without losing any wickets.
