India Clinches Three Golds at Para World Badminton; Yathiraj, Pramod, and Krishna Triumph, Secures Three Silvers Too
India secured three gold medals in the ongoing World Badminton Championship in Thailand on Sunday. Additionally, Indian players also won three silver medals. Suhas Yathiraj, Pramod Bhagat, and Krishna Nagar clinched gold in the men’s singles category. Alongside, Manisha Ramdasa won a silver medal in the women’s singles category. Two silver medals were secured in doubles matches.
Suhas Claims First World Title, Pramod Bags Third
Tokyo Paralympics silver medalist and world number three player Suhas Yathiraj won the gold in the men’s SL-4 category final by defeating Indonesia’s Fredy Setiawan 21-18, 21-18, claiming his first world title. Meanwhile, Pramod Bhagat, who won the gold in the Ace-3 category final, defeated England’s Daniel Bethell 14-21, 21-15, 21-14, clinching his third title. Pramod had previously won the World Championship in 2015 and 2019. Krishna Nagar secured the third gold medal for India, defeating China’s Lin Nill 22-20, 22-20 in the SH-6 category final.
Manisha Ramdasa Bags Silver
Manisha Ramdasa had to settle for silver in the women’s singles SU-5 category final after facing a tough challenge from China’s Yang Jiayi, losing 21-16, 21-16. Nevertheless, Manisha expressed satisfaction with the silver medal.
Doubles Success with Two Silver Medals
Chirag Baratha and Raj Kumar clinched the silver medal in the men’s doubles SU-5 category. Meanwhile, Rachna Shaillesh Kumar and Nitya Sumati Sivannan also celebrated their silver medal in the women’s doubles event.
