India Vs Australia T20I Series: Matthew Wade to Lead Australia in 5-Match T20I Series Against India
Australian wicketkeeper Matthew Wade has been appointed as the captain of a 15-member squad that will compete in a five-match T20 International (T20I) series against India, scheduled to commence next month. The series is set to kick off just four days after the culmination of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final, which will take place on November 19.
Significantly, a substantial portion of the World Cup 2023 squad, including a total of eight players, will continue their representation in the T20I series. Among these retained players are the leading run-scorer of the World Cup, David Warner, the former captain Steve Smith, Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and the talented leg-spinner Adam Zampa.
It’s important to note that Matthew Wade’s appointment as the captain of the Australian side for the upcoming T20I series against India is of an interim nature. This responsibility has been temporarily bestowed upon him, and it follows the brief three-match captaincy stint held by the all-rounder Mitch Marsh during the South Africa tour in August.
