39 Runs in One Over: Player Matches Yuvraj Singh’s Record, Shocking Cricket World

Darius Visser has made history by becoming the highest run-scorer in a single over in T20 internationals. Previously, the record for the most runs in one over in T20 internationals was held jointly by Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran, and Dipendra Singh Airee, who all scored 36 runs in an over.

On Tuesday (August 20), during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional East Asia-Pacific Qualifier A match against Vanuatu, Visser scored 39 runs off the bowling of seamer Nalin Nipiko. During this innings, Visser also achieved the feat of hitting 6 sixes in one over.

Achieving Sixes and No-Balls

Darius Visser hit 6 sixes off the 15th over of the match against Nalin Nipiko. The bowler delivered 3 no-balls under pressure during this over, resulting in a total of 39 runs scored in that over.

Visser hit 3 sixes off the first 3 balls of Nipiko’s over. The fourth ball was a no-ball. On the next ball, Visser hit another six. The fifth ball was a dot, and the sixth ball was also a no-ball, but Visser sent it over the boundary line. On the final ball, Visser hit another towering six, making a total of 39 runs in the over.

Matching Yuvraj Singh

In hitting 6 sixes in an over, Darius Visser has matched the feat of Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj hit 6 sixes off 6 balls against Stuart Broad of England in 2007. Visser has become the fourth player to hit 6 sixes in an over in a T20 international match. Before him, apart from Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard and Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee had also achieved this feat.

Samoa’s First Century Maker

In this match, Darius Visser batted at number four and played aggressively from the start, scoring a blazing century. He scored an impressive 132 runs off 62 balls, including 5 fours and 14 sixes. He also became the first player from Samoa to hit a century.

Samoa Wins the Match

With Visser’s explosive innings, the Samoa team scored 174 runs in their allotted 20 overs. The Vanuatu team, which chased the target, could only manage 164 runs, losing 9 wickets. For Vanuatu, seamer Nalin Nipiko, who conceded 6 sixes in the first innings, scored the highest 73 runs. However, due to the lack of support from other batsmen, Vanuatu lost by 10 runs.
