BCCI Center of Excellence: NCA Renamed, Featuring Training for Cricketers and Top Olympians with Jay Shah and Roger Binny Present
On Saturday, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah inaugurated the new National Cricket Academy (NCA). The NCA, which has been operating at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium since 2000, will now be known as the BCCI Center of Excellence (BCE). Additionally, it is now located close to the international airport.
Modern Facilities Will Help Players Excel and Maintain Top Fitness: VVS Laxman
VVS Laxman, the President, stated, “The modern facilities here will assist players in becoming their best and maintaining top-level fitness, which will help India sustain its dominance across all three formats. It is a misconception that this is just a rehabilitation point.
I am delighted that both the current and future generations will be able to utilize these facilities. Since Jay Shah first visited here with the construction team, he set a deadline for every aspect to ensure that the work is completed within a specific timeframe.”
Indian Cricket Will Reach Greater Heights After the Center’s Opening: Secretary Jay Shah
At the BCCI annual meeting on Saturday, a video was shown celebrating Jay Shah’s achievements, as he is set to take over as the ICC Chairman in the near future.
On this occasion, Jay Shah stated, “With the inauguration of this center, Indian cricket will reach greater heights. This has been a part of our vision to lay a strong foundation for the future. I am confident that players competing at both domestic and international levels will experience further development.”
Top Olympians Will Also Train at the BCE
Spanning 40 acres, this Center of Excellence features a total of 86 pitches, including three cricket grounds. It offers both indoor and outdoor training facilities. The main ground has an 85-yard boundary, and 13 pitches have been prepared using red clay from Mumbai, while the others are made with various types of soil.
The cutting-edge Sports Science and Medicine Center will be accessible not only to cricketers but also to top Olympians. Eight of the pitches are claimed to have turf similar to that used in the UK and Australia. The center is equipped with facilities such as a massage room, rest area, kit room, Hall of Fame, advanced broadcasting facilities, and four athletics tracks.
