Angkrish Raghuvanshi has shattered a 16-year-old record in his debut match for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2024, making him the youngest player to achieve such a feat. Raghuvanshi’s outstanding performance surpassed the previous record set by Shreevats Goswami. 

He played a stunning innings, scoring 54 runs off just 27 deliveries, including five boundaries and three sixes, thereby etching his name in IPL history. Raghuvanshi’s remarkable debut innings not only showcased his talent but also highlighted his potential as a promising young cricketer. At the age of 18 years and 303 days, he became the youngest player to score a half-century on debut in IPL history, achieving this milestone in just 25 balls.

Breaking a 16-Year-Old Record

Angkrish Raghuvanshi, at the age of 18 years and 303 days, became the youngest player to achieve this feat, breaking a record that stood for 16 years. He is among the 23 players in IPL history to score fifty or more runs in their debut innings, and he holds the distinction of being the youngest among them. 

Previously, the record was held by Shreevats Goswami, who scored 52 runs in his IPL debut at the age of 19 years and one day in 2008. Raghuvanshi’s remarkable performance at such a young age underscores his talent and potential in the world of cricket.

Second Fastest Half-Century in IPL Debut

Raghuvanshi holds the distinction of being the seventh youngest batsman to score a half-century in the IPL, and after Shubman Gill (18y, 237d) in 2018, he is the second youngest for the Knight Riders. 

Furthermore, his half-century marks the second fastest in IPL debut innings after James Hopes, who scored a half-century in just 24 balls in his debut match in 2008.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi was the highest run-scorer for India in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2022. In six matches, he scored a century and a half-century, accumulating a total of 278 runs. 

Originally hailing from Delhi, Angkrish moved to Mumbai and now represents the city in cricket. In November, he smashed a quick half-century against Kerala in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match.
