Ahmedabad’s Historic WWE-Style Wrestling: State Wrestlers Clash with Iron Chairs, Pipes; 10,000 Spectators to Watch Live

For the first time ever, Ahmedabad is set to host a wrestling event akin to those seen on WWE television. Organized in front of the Karnavati Club at SG Highway, the event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 25th, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. This marks a historic moment in Ahmedabad’s history as such a wrestling spectacle has never been held before. Approximately 25 wrestlers from states including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat are expected to participate in this wrestling extravaganza.

Ticket Prices for the Wrestling Tournament Revealed

In a conversation with Divya Bhaskar, professional wrestler Shani Prajapati disclosed details about the upcoming wrestling tournament in Ahmedabad, marking its 8th season. The journey commenced in 2019 with the inaugural event held in Palanpur, followed by expansions to cities like Patan, Mehsana, and Visnagar. The forthcoming wrestling spectacle in Ahmedabad is poised to accommodate over 10,000 spectators simultaneously, promising an exhilarating experience for attendees. Ticket prices for the event range from ₹299 to ₹4999, catering to various preferences and budget considerations.

Intense preparation for planning.

Domestic Wrestlers Take Center Stage in the Tournament

When asked about the absence of foreign players in the tournament, Shani Prajapati explained that while India boasts several prominent wrestlers such as The Great Khali, Jinder Mahal, and Sheamus, many of them are currently engaged in WWE matches in the United States, making it impractical to invite them for the event. However, the tournament provides a platform for local talent, including Shani’s younger brother, Ravi Prajapati, to showcase their performances and skills on the wrestling stage.

Players from different states will participate.

Reasons for Choosing Ahmedabad

Shani Prajapati discussed the reasons for selecting Ahmedabad as the venue, stating that numerous events have been organized in various cities. Therefore, there is a desire to host events in Ahmedabad now. Consequently, the people of Ahmedabad can also witness the live event. Moreover, Ahmedabad has extended considerable support to us, which is why we have chosen to organize the event here.

Expect Intense Matches with a Variety of Weapons in WWE

In WWE, wrestlers engage in fierce battles, striking each other blow for blow. Similarly, such matches will be witnessed here, where wrestlers won’t hesitate to use chairs and various objects. The difference lies in the fact that foreign fighters can be seen there, while Indian wrestlers will dominate the ring here. People may argue about the authenticity of it all, but I urge everyone to come and witness this wrestling competition firsthand. See the fights with your own eyes and judge for yourself.

One wrestler will be seen punching the other.

Heavyweight Championship Belt to be Awarded

Similar to how belts are awarded in WWE, the tournament will also feature the presentation of a belt. An estimated 7 or more fights will be organized, including formats such as singles, tag teams, and Royal Rumble. It’s possible that casual conversations between two fighters could suddenly lead to a fight. In this tournament, we will award belts in two categories: the National Heavyweight Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship. These belts will be made of gold and are valued at approximately 6 to 7 lakh rupees each.

More than 7 fights will be held.

Invitation Extended to Politicians

We have extended invitations to the Chief Minister of the state, Bhupendra Patel, Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi, and many others including Sports Authority head, Rajdeepbhai Ribadiya, to join us as chief guests. All these individuals have supported us financially and have provided their full backing. When we met Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, he asked us, “How do you endure all this fighting in the ring?” Indeed, all the blows can be quite challenging to bear. Harsh Sanghvi also had many questions; the stage’s ring is made of solid wood, covered with a layer of 18-foot-long wooden planks. The entire ring measures 18 by 18 feet.

The ring will be 18 by 18.

Three Referees Assigned for the Match

Shani Prajapati stated that just as Indian wrestlers will participate in this fight, we are also inviting well-trained referees. This ensures that the referees receive recognition and people understand that our country has skilled referees as well. All these referees have been trained at The Great Khali’s institute. There will be three referees assigned for this match, including two who will oversee the backstages.
