Shah Rukh Khan to Host IIFA 2024: Playfully Teases Karan Johar About Filmmaking, Rana Daggubati Shows Respect by Touching His Feet
Recently, a press conference for the renowned award show IIFA was organized at a 5-star hotel in Mumbai, attended by several Bollywood celebrities such as Karan Johar, Rana Daggubati, and Siddhant Chaturvedi. However, it was Shah Rukh Khan who captured everyone’s attention with his brilliant sense of humor.
Several videos from the press conference have surfaced, with one showing Shah Rukh Khan playfully mocking Karan Johar, while in another, Rana Daggubati is seen touching King Khan’s feet.
In one of the videos from the IIFA press conference, Shah Rukh Khan is seen teasing Karan Johar for not making films. On stage, Shah Rukh remarked, “Karan Johar told me that he didn’t want to come for rehearsals to host the show. He wanted to rehearse via Zoom. Karan was saying, ‘I’ll do it on Zoom, I do big hosting.’ Siddhant just said that Karan hosts chat shows and award shows too, but brother, also make a film—how much will you host?”

Upon hearing Shah Rukh Khan’s remark, the entire audience burst into laughter. Karan Johar further added, “When Siddhant said that, even I felt that as a filmmaker, I should be making more films.”
During this time, Rana Daggubati also joined them on stage, hugging both Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar. A little later, Rana touched Shah Rukh’s feet and said, “We are completely South Indian, and this is how we do it.”
Shah Rukh Khan’s Playful Jibes at the Younger Generation During IIFA Rehearsal
During the hosting rehearsal, Shah Rukh Khan also playfully teased the younger generation. He mentioned that while the new generation does show respect and even touches feet, their style is quite unique.
According to Shah Rukh, the young generation touches the feet of the person in front of them, and then, amusingly, touches their own feet to seek blessings. The fun-filled antics of Stree 2 actors Abhishek Banerjee and Siddhant Chaturvedi were also witnessed on stage.
The IIFA Awards 2024 are set to take place from September 27-29 at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. This year, Varun Dhawan, Shahid Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon are set to perform at the event.
