Bollywood’s king, Shah Rukh Khan, has been a chain smoker for years. In an interview, he revealed that he used to smoke up to 100 cigarettes a day, but after many years, he has decided to quit smoking. 

Recently, during an event to celebrate his 59th birthday, Shah Rukh shared with fans that he has given up smoking. However, this decision has come with some health challenges for him.

Last Saturday, Shah Rukh Khan participated in an event held at the Rang Mandir Auditorium in Bandra on his birthday. During the event, he announced on stage, “There is another good thing, friends. I no longer smoke cigarettes.” Upon hearing this, the joy of the fans present in the auditorium knew no bounds.

Shah Rukh further mentioned that he believed quitting smoking would alleviate his breathing difficulties, but that has not been the case. 

He stated, “I thought I wouldn’t have any problems with breathing, but I’m still experiencing issues. Insha’Allah, that will get better too.” A few years ago, Shah Rukh expressed his desire to quit smoking for the sake of his children, Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam.

Co-Star Reveals Shah Rukh Khan’s Smoking Habits

Co-actor Pradeep Rawat, who worked with Shah Rukh Khan in the film Koila, recently shared insights during an interview with Siddharth Kanan, describing Shah Rukh as a chain smoker. 

He mentioned, “I wasn’t very close to Shah Rukh during the shooting, but he is a very kind-hearted person. I remember that I haven’t seen any other actor smoke as much as Shah Rukh does. He would light one cigarette, then another, and then a third from the same cigarette. He is a real chain smoker. However, there is no limit to his dedication towards films.”

In 2012, Shah Rukh Khan was spotted smoking a cigarette in public during a match between his team, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Rajasthan Royals. As a result, he was found guilty by a court in Jaipur and imposed a fine for smoking in public places.
