Fake Video of Rashmika Mandana Sparks Outrage, Amitabh Bachchan Calls for Legal Action
Rashmika Mandanna recently came across a deepfake video created by AI. The video shows a woman entering an elevator, who looks exactly like Rashmika. With the help of AI’s deepfake technology, the woman’s face has been transformed to resemble Rashmika. After this video surfaced, Amitabh Bachchan, Rashmika’s co-star in the film ‘Goodbye,’ has shown support for her and called for swift legal action against those responsible. Rashmika’s fans, along with Big B, stand behind her. Following the video’s release, the actress herself has also made a plea. Apart from Rashmika, many people have fallen victim to cybercrimes as these incidents increase with the growing use of AI technology.
My Thoughts on this Matter – Rashmika
After Big B, Rashmika also responded to this video. She shared the video on her Instagram story and expressed her deep disappointment. She wrote, “I’m deeply saddened to talk about my deepfake video and share it online. Truth be told, this isn’t just about me, but we all have a right to be very alarmed about the misuse of this technology. Today, as a woman and an actress, I am thankful for my family, friends, and well-wishers who ensure my safety. If I were in school or college and this happened, I wouldn’t know how to handle this situation. More than ever, we must be cautious about the effects of such fake entities.”
Abhishek’s Post on the Matter
Abhishek, a journalist at ALT News, had uploaded the deepfake video on his Twitter handle. With this video, he wrote, “A legal action is necessary to work with deepfakes in India from a legal perspective. If you see this viral video of actress Rashmika Mandanna on social media handles, it’s actually a deepfake video of a British-Indian girl named Zara Patel, who has 415k followers on Instagram. This video was uploaded on her Instagram on 9th October.”
Big B Demands Legal Action
Abhishek’s tweet prompted a response from Amitabh Bachchan. He retweeted the post and commented, “Yes, from a legal perspective, this is indeed a strong case. Fans of Big B and Rashmika are also demanding strong action against those responsible for this video.”
Acting Debut with Big B
Rashmika made her Bollywood debut in the film ‘Goodbye,’ where she worked with Amitabh Bachchan. In this film, she played the role of Big B’s daughter. Nina Gupta also shared the screen with them. Although the film featured a star-studded cast and was a family drama, it failed to live up to expectations at the box office. In the coming days, Rashmika will be seen with Ranbir Kapoor in the film ‘Animal,’ set to release in theaters on 1st December.
