Hookah Parlour Raid: Munawar Faruqui Among 13 Detained by Mumbai Police, Released After Questioning
Late on Tuesday night, Mumbai Police conducted a raid on a hookah parlour, detaining 13 individuals including stand-up comedian and winner of ‘Bigg Boss 17’, Munawar Faruqui. After questioning, all individuals have been released. A case has been filed against all of them.
Tip Received by Mumbai Police Leads to Raid on Hookah Parlour
According to an official involved in the raid at the Sabalan Hookah Parlour located in the Fort area, Mumbai Police received information about the consumption of tobacco at the establishment.
Subsequently, the police conducted a raid at the location and detained 13 individuals. Among those detained was Munawar Faruqui.
Police Seize 9 Hookah Pots Worth Rs. 13,500, Unearth Illicit Operations
During the raid on the illicit hookah parlour, Mumbai Police confiscated 4,400 rupees in cash along with 9 hookah pots valued at 13,500 rupees.
A case has been filed under the provisions of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act.
Spotted at Mumbai Airport on Wednesday Morning
Following reports of being detained by the Mumbai Police, Munawar Faruqui shared a picture of the airport on his Instagram. Posting a selfie, Munawar wrote, “Traveling even when tired.”
Accused of Inflaming Religious Sentiments in 2021
This isn’t the first time Munawar’s name has been associated with controversy. In 2021, he faced allegations of inflaming religious sentiments.
During one of his stand-up acts, he made controversial comments about Hindu deities, leading to FIRs being filed against him in several states. He was arrested and spent 37 days in jail in connection with the case.
Winner of Several Reality Shows
Despite being embroiled in controversies, Munawar has had success in the realm of reality television. His first notable participation was in Kangana Ranaut’s reality show “Lock Up” in 2022, where he emerged as the winner of Season 1.
Following this, he went on to win the title of winner in the previous year’s “Bigg Boss 17”.
