Filmmaker SS Rajamouli Working on a Biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke’s Life
Filmmaker SS Rajamouli is currently working on a film based on the life of Dadasaheb Phalke. This film will depict the journey of Indian cinema from its inception to the present day. The film is titled ‘Made in India,’ and it will be directed by Nitesh Kakkar. Recently, Rajamouli shared a teaser of the film on social media. Rajamouli’s son, SS Karthikeya, and Varun Gupta will jointly produce the film. ‘Made in India’ will be released in Marathi, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada languages.
It Was Difficult to Consider a Biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke: Rajamouli
In the teaser, it is mentioned that many people are making various types of biopics in Indian cinema. Now, Indian cinema itself is becoming the subject of a biopic. ‘Made in India’ is being directed by SS Rajamouli. Sharing the teaser on social media, Rajamouli wrote, “I was deeply moved when I heard the description of a film for the first time. Making a biopic is not easy. But considering making a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke was very challenging. We are all preparing for this film… Made in India!”
The Cast of the Film Has Not Been Finalized Yet
The cast of the film has not been finalized yet. Director Nitesh Kakkar has previously made films like ‘Filmistan’ in 2012, ‘Mitron’ in 2018, and ‘Notebook’ in 2019. At the same time, the film’s producer, S.S. Karthikeya, has mentioned that he has worked as a line producer in Rajamouli’s film RRR.
Dadasaheb Phalke’s Film in RRR as a Line Producer
Dadasaheb Phalke is also referred to as the father of Indian cinema. He made India’s first full-length feature film in 1913, titled ‘Raja Harishchandra.’ After this, he made nearly 27 more short films. In total, he directed around 90 films in a career spanning about two decades.
