Malaika Arora’s Father’s Final Rites: Actress Comforted by Son; Ex-Husband Arbaaz Khan Attends Cremation with Wife Shura

Bollywood actress Malaika Arora’s 62-year-old father, Anil Arora, committed suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of the Ayesha Manor building in Bandra, Mumbai, at 9 a.m. on the morning of September 11. Anil Mehta’s body was sent for post-mortem at Cooper Hospital at 8 p.m. last night.

The final rites of Malaika Arora’s father, Anil Mehta, will soon take place at the Santacruz Hindu Crematorium in Mumbai. Malaika and Amrita, along with other family members, have left their father’s home for the crematorium.

Malaika’s ex-husband, Arbaaz Khan, has also arrived at the crematorium with his wife, Shura Khan. Several other celebrities have also attended the funeral procession.

Malaika’s Statement: “He Was Our Best Friend”

Late in the evening, Malaika shared a post about her father. In this post, the actress mentioned her father’s full name as Anil Kuldeep Mehta. Malaika wrote, “I am deeply saddened to inform you that my father, Anil Mehta, is no more. He was a wonderful man, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend.

Our family is in shock due to this sudden loss. We kindly request the media and fans to respect our privacy during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect.”

What Did the Post-Mortem Report Reveal?

According to sources, the preliminary report indicates that Anil Arora’s death is believed to have been caused by multiple injuries. The viscera has been sent to a forensic lab for further investigation.

On Tuesday, September 10, Malaika Arora, along with her younger sister Amrita, went to their parents’ home for a party. They had no idea that the following morning would bring such difficulty for them.

Police Reported the Death as Suicide

Close sources to Malaika believe that Anil Arora’s death was not a suicide but rather an accident. However, DCP Raj Tilke stated in the preliminary investigation that the death is being considered a suicide. 

The police and forensic team are currently investigating the matter and have assured that the investigation will be conducted from all angles.

Anil Arora Resided on the Same Floor as His Ex-Wife

According to the police, Anil Arora lived on the sixth floor of the Ayesha Minor building. His ex-wife, Joys, also resided on the same floor. Anil Arora had a routine of bringing newspapers from his ex-wife’s home every morning and then sitting in the balcony to read them. However, on September 11, this routine did not occur.

According to Joys’ statement to the police, “My husband Anil used to sit in the balcony every morning to read the newspaper. Although we are divorced, we have been living together for the past few years. 

On Wednesday, September 11, I saw my husband’s slippers and went to the balcony. When I did not see him there, I noticed the watchman shouting for help from below. I looked down and saw my husband. He did not have any illness, only some knee pain. He had retired from the Merchant Navy.”
