Actor Govinda Shot in the Leg: Misfire from His Own Revolver, Admitted to ICU in Andheri Hospital
Bollywood actor Govinda suffered an injury after a bullet hit his leg. The incident occurred with his own pistol. This event took place on Tuesday morning at around 4:45 AM.
According to sources close to Divya Bhaskar, the 60-year-old actor was injured due to a misfire while cleaning his revolver. Mumbai police arrived at the scene, seized the revolver, and have started investigating the matter.
Senior police officer Paramjit Singh Dahiya confirmed that the gun involved in the incident was licensed. The DCP is expected to issue an official statement soon.
Admitted to Mumbai’s Criti Care Hospital
Due to the gunshot wound, Govinda experienced significant blood loss, which led to his condition becoming critical. He has been admitted to Criti Care Hospital in Andheri for treatment.
According to sources associated with the hospital, after receiving initial treatment, Govinda is now out of danger. His wife, Sunita, is currently by his side at the hospital.
Was Scheduled to Attend an Event in Kolkata
Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, stated that the actor was preparing to travel to Kolkata for an event. He had a flight scheduled for 6 AM. While placing his pistol in the cupboard, a misfire occurred, and the bullet struck him below the knee. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Andheri, where the bullet was removed. His condition is now stable, and there is no cause for concern.
Govinda, known for films like Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1, Raja Babu, Chhote Sarkar, and Hadh Kar Di Aapne, has been away from films for the last five years. His last release was Rangeela Raja in 2019.
Joined Shiv Sena in March
On March 28, Govinda joined the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), with Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also present at the event. After joining the party, Govinda stated, “I was in politics from 2004 to 2009. It is a coincidence that after 14 years, I am returning to politics. I will fully honor the trust that has been placed in me.”
In 2004, Govinda contested the Lok Sabha elections from Mumbai North on a Congress ticket. He defeated BJP’s Ram Naik by 48,271 votes. The actor served as a Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2009.
