Double-Decker Bus Collision in Etawah: 14 Injured, Driver Dozed Off

In a recent unfortunate incident, a privately operated double-decker bus traveling from Delhi to Lucknow was involved in a collision on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, specifically in Kurkha village within the jurisdiction of the Usrahar police station area. This incident occurred near Milestone 124 on the expressway and resulted in injuries to 14 passengers who were aboard the bus at the time.

The injured passengers were promptly provided with medical attention and have been transported to Saifai Medical College for treatment. It is reported that approximately 50 passengers were on board the bus when the accident transpired.

In a distressing turn of events, a double-decker bus traveling on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway overturned after colliding with a divider. Preliminary investigations suggest that driver fatigue may have played a significant role in this unfortunate accident.

It is suspected that the bus driver, possibly experiencing fatigue, may have lost control of the vehicle, leading to the collision and subsequent overturning of the bus. Driver fatigue is a known risk factor for accidents on long journeys, emphasizing the importance of well-rested and alert drivers.

Upon receiving information about the bus accident, Usrahar Station Officer (SO) Vivek Kumar Singh, accompanied by other law enforcement personnel, promptly reached the accident scene. Their swift response ensured that the injured passengers received timely medical attention and were subsequently transported to a hospital for treatment.

On a Sunday morning, a double-decker bus en route from Delhi to Lucknow encountered a distressing incident at kilometer marker 124 of the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. The accident unfolded when the driver, identified as Shankar Singh, son of Vishnu Singh and a resident of Kharia in Morena district, Madhya Pradesh, reportedly lost control of the bus due to his drowsiness, ultimately resulting in a collision with a divider and the subsequent overturning of the vehicle.

Regrettably, approximately 14 individuals sustained injuries as a consequence of this incident. The injured passengers have been promptly transported to Saifai Medical College for necessary medical care and treatment.

Efforts to address the situation are underway, with the overturned bus currently in the process of being removed from the accident site through the utilization of a crane. Law enforcement agencies, including the police, and the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEDA) team, have initiated their response to manage the aftermath of the accident.

During the unfortunate accident, several individuals sustained injuries. The injured passengers have been identified as follows:

  1. Imran, a resident of Lal Kuan.
  2. Ashafa Wegam, son of Suman Khan.
  3. Shikha, daughter of Ramlal, a resident of Siddharthnagar.
  4. Saigi, father of Nurul Hasan, a resident of Barabanki.
  5. Ratanlal, son of Radheshyam, a resident of Lucknow Siddharth Nagar.
  6. Prince Pal, son of Harnath Pal, a resident of Ballia.
  7. Amresh Pal, a resident of Ballia.

Additionally, eight other individuals have been admitted to Saifai Medical College. Thankfully, it has been reported that none of the injured passengers have sustained serious injuries. The timely response and medical care provided to them have contributed to their overall well-being.
