Big Update on Jasprit Bumrah’s Participation in IPL 2025: When Will He Return to the Team?
Mumbai Indians are gearing up to enter IPL 2025 with the goal of winning their sixth title. However, the team’s star player, Jasprit Bumrah, is currently recovering from an injury. Mumbai Indians’ head coach, Mahela Jayawardene, recently provided an update on Bumrah’s condition.
Update on Bumrah’s Fitness
On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, Mahela Jayawardene shared with reporters in Mumbai that Jasprit Bumrah is currently at the NCA (National Cricket Academy). “He has just started his rehabilitation. We will have to wait and see how the BCCI medical team responds. Right now, everything is going well,” Jayawardene stated.
Bumrah’s Absence: A Chance for Young Players
Jayawardene further emphasized that while Bumrah’s absence is a challenge, it also presents a valuable opportunity for young players to step up. “Bumrah is in a good mood. His absence is a challenge for us. He’s one of the best bowlers in the world and has been an outstanding player for us for many years. However, this could be a great chance for young players to make a name for themselves,” he added.
Hardik Pandya Also Comments on Bumrah’s Fitness
In addition to Jayawardene, Hardik Pandya also provided an update on Bumrah’s fitness. Speaking at a press conference on March 19, Pandya stated, “Jasprit Bumrah will not be available for the first match. He’s not fit yet.”
Mumbai Indians’ First Match of IPL 2025
Mumbai Indians will face Chennai Super Kings in their opening match of IPL 2025. Bumrah will not be part of the playing XI for this match. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation at NCA and has not yet been cleared to play. Additionally, Hardik Pandya will also miss the match due to a one-match suspension. In their absence, Suryakumar Yadav will take over the captaincy for Mumbai Indians’ first match, which presents a significant challenge for the team.
