Bigg Boss: From Netherlands to India’s TV Screens

The concept of Bigg Boss was borrowed from the Netherlands’ show Big Brother. The first episode of the Indian version aired on November 3, 2006. The first season was hosted by Arshad Warsi, followed by Shilpa Shetty hosting the second season, which began on August 17, 2008. Shilpa, who was the winner of Big Brother, brought her expertise to the show.

The third season was hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, but it didn’t gain as much popularity as the earlier ones. The show truly found its rhythm when Salman Khan took over as the host in Season 4. His unique style was a hit with the audience, and the show saw a surge in TRP ratings.

As of now, 17 seasons of Bigg Boss have aired, and the 18th season is currently on-air.
