Tragic Demise of 8-Year-Old Student at Zebar School Ahmedabad: Collapsed Due to Chest Pain, Preliminary Report Suggests Cardiac Arrest

In a tragic incident, an 8-year-old girl named Gargi Ranpara passed away at the well-known Zebar School in Thaltej, Ahmedabad. The incident occurred around 8 a.m. when Gargi, while climbing the stairs, experienced chest pain. She sat on a chair in the school lobby to rest but collapsed moments later.

The school authorities immediately rushed her to Zydus Hospital for treatment. However, the hospital declared her dead upon arrival. Preliminary reports suggest that the cause of death was cardiac arrest.

Her body was sent to Asarwa Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, the police have initiated an investigation by acquiring CCTV footage from the school. Crime Branch officials, along with the Bodakdev police and a dog squad, also inspected the premises.

Gargi’s parents were reported to be in Mumbai at the time of the incident.

Delay in Ambulance Arrival Led to Staff Transporting Gargi to Zydus Hospital: Principal

Sharmistha Sinha, the Principal of Zebar School for Children, shared details about the tragic incident involving Gargi Tushar Ranpara, a Grade 3 student. She stated that Gargi suddenly experienced chest pain and sat down as she faced difficulty breathing.

The school staff immediately called 108 for an ambulance, but due to the delay in its arrival, they decided to transport her to Zydus Hospital in a staff vehicle for urgent medical attention.

Child Was Living with Grandparents; Parents Informed in Mumbai

Preliminary findings suggest that the 8-year-old girl passed away due to cardiac arrest during treatment. The child was residing in Ahmedabad with her grandparents, while her parents are currently in Mumbai and have been informed about the tragic incident.

At the time of admission, no medical conditions were reported, and the school had received documents confirming the child had no prior illnesses. Despite this, she suddenly experienced chest pain, leading to the unfortunate incident.

Grandfather’s Health Deteriorates After Hearing News of Granddaughter’s Death

The deceased child, Gargi, lived on the eighth floor of Pushpraj Flats in Bodakdev, Ahmedabad, with her grandparents and mother, while her father resides in Mumbai for work. Upon hearing the heartbreaking news of Gargi’s death, her grandfather’s health deteriorated.

According to the security staff at Pushpraj Flats, Gargi’s grandfather used to drop her off at school daily. As usual, he dropped her at school around 7:15 a.m. on the day of the incident.

Another resident of Pushpraj Tower mentioned that Gargi’s family is in deep shock and has restricted access to their flat, requesting privacy during this difficult time.

Further Investigation Awaiting Post-Mortem Report: JCP Neeraj Badgujar

Sector-1 JCP Neeraj Badgujar stated that upon learning about the child’s death, a police team immediately arrived at the school. The police have currently registered a case of accidental death and initiated an investigation.

He further mentioned that the next steps in the inquiry will be determined after the post-mortem report is received.

Teachers Provided Immediate CPR and Rushed the Child to the Hospital: Zebar School

In an official statement released by Zebar School, they shared details of the incident involving Gargi. The statement mentioned that Gargi attended school as usual in the morning. After climbing the stairs to the first floor, she began to feel unwell and sat on a chair. Moments later, she collapsed.

The school staff promptly administered CPR and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where doctors made every effort to save her. Unfortunately, the doctors later confirmed her death, citing cardiac arrest as the cause.

The school expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and extended their condolences to Gargi’s family. They also assured that the school would provide all necessary support to her family and classmates during this difficult time.
