Andhra Cricket Association to Award Nitish ₹25 Lakh for His Remarkable Performance: Gavaskar Hails It as One of the Greatest Innings

The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) has announced a cash reward of ₹25 lakh for Nitish Reddy, who played a pivotal role in India’s comeback during the Melbourne Test by scoring his maiden century. On Saturday, Nitish achieved a remarkable milestone in his career, scoring 114 runs in the match.

ACA President Kasineni Sivanath expressed his delight, saying, “This is a proud moment for the Andhra Cricket Association. Nitish, representing Andhra, has been delivering stellar performances for India in both Test and T20 formats. As a token of appreciation, we are awarding Nitish a cash prize of ₹25 lakh.”

Nitish added 127 runs for the eighth wicket with all-rounder Washington Sundar.

Thanks to the century by 21-year-old Nitish Reddy, India scored 358 runs by the end of the third day, losing 9 wickets in the process. Reddy, who had been in exceptional form throughout the series, played another remarkable innings in the fourth Test. Former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar hailed Reddy’s performance, calling it one of the greatest innings in India’s Test cricket history.

On the third day of the Melbourne Test, Nitish Reddy rescued Team India from a tough situation and scored his maiden international century (114 runs). When Nitish came to bat, the team had already lost 6 wickets in their first innings. He forged a crucial 127-run partnership with all-rounder Washington Sundar, helping India recover in challenging circumstances.

Most Runs for India in the Series

Nitish Reddy made his debut in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In the Perth Test, he scored the highest runs for India in the first innings, making 41 runs. In the second innings, he followed up with a quick and valuable 38-run knock. Nitish also scored 42 runs in each innings of the Adelaide Test. Across 6 innings in this series, Nitish accumulated 284 runs, making him the highest run-scorer for India in the series.
