Sunil Gavaskar Criticizes Rishabh Pant’s Shot: Says He Should Go to the Other Dressing Room, Not India’s After Dismissal
In the first innings of the ongoing 4th Test match between India and Australia, Rishabh Pant handed his wicket to the opposition in a rather unusual manner. Pant, who was playing at 28 runs off 36 balls, attempted a scoop shot off Scott Boland’s delivery.
However, his timing was off, and the ball flew towards third man, where Nathan Lyon, standing there, easily took the catch. This gave Australia their first wicket of the third day.
Sunil Gavaskar’s Reaction to Rishabh Pant’s Dismissal
Sunil Gavaskar was not pleased with the way Rishabh Pant got out. When the wicket fell, Gavaskar was commentating alongside Harsha Bhogle for ABC Sports. He didn’t hold back his thoughts and reprimanded Pant for his carelessness on air.
In an angry tone, Gavaskar said, “Stupid, stupid, stupid. There are two fielders, and yet you play the shot like that. You missed the last shot and now look where you got caught. You got caught at third man. You handed your wicket away.”

Gavaskar further expressed his frustration, saying, “You need to understand the situation. You can’t just say that this is your natural game. I’m sorry, but this is not your natural game. It was a stupid shot. This is enough to disappoint your team badly. He shouldn’t go back to India’s dressing room; he should go to the other dressing room.”
Rishabh Pant Struggles in the Series So Far
Rishabh Pant faced 37 balls and scored 28 runs, including three boundaries, in his innings. However, his bat has remained quiet throughout the series. In the first Test, he scored 37 and 1 run. In the second Test, Pant made 21 and 28 runs.
In Brisbane, he managed only 9 runs. In Melbourne, Pant scored 28 runs in the first innings. This means he has gotten set four times in the series but failed to convert his starts into bigger scores.
