Protests Erupt Across Gujarat Over Amit Shah’s Ambedkar Statement: NSUI Activists Protest in Ahmedabad with 150 Police Personnel Present
There has been widespread opposition across Gujarat today regarding Amit Shah’s statement on Babasaheb Ambedkar in Parliament. In Ahmedabad, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) staged a protest outside Gujarat University.
NSUI workers, holding banners and chanting slogans, were protesting when they were immediately detained by the police. Despite the presence of over 150 police personnel, including ACPs and PIs, the NSUI workers climbed onto a police officer to register their protest.
University Area Turned into a Police Zone Amidst Protest Over Amit Shah’s Statement on Ambedkar
In connection with Amit Shah’s statement on Babasaheb Ambedkar, NSUI organized a protest outside Gujarat University today. Prior to the protest, the entire university area was converted into a police zone.
NSUI workers, carrying banners, were heading towards the protest site from Dadasaheb’s footsteps. Before the workers could reach the entrance of Gujarat University, police detained and intercepted all of them.
Protesters Immediately Detained and Removed by Police
Around 150 police officers, including ACP and 2 PIs, were present for security arrangements during the protest. The police detained all the protesters, and during the detention, some NSUI workers climbed onto a police officer.
Upon noticing this, the police immediately apprehended and removed the protesters. The ACP also grabbed a protester by the collar of their shirt, pulling them into the police vehicle.
NSUI Demands Apology for Insulting Babasaheb
Regarding the issue, NSUI President Narendra Solanki stated, “We have come to protest against Amit Shah’s statement. Our demand is that an apology should be issued for the disrespect shown towards Babasaheb.”
NSUI’s Roadblock Protest in Rajkot’s Kotchachowk Over Amit Shah’s Statement
Following Home Minister Amit Shah’s comment on Babasaheb Ambedkar, protests have erupted across the country. In Rajkot, NSUI held a strong protest at Kotecha Chowk, demanding an apology from Amit Shah and his resignation.
Protesters waved banners calling for Shah to apologize and step down, along with images of Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution. The protest led to a traffic jam, and the police intervened, detaining around 10 activists.
