Aadhaar Free Update Deadline Extended for the Fourth Time: No Payment Required Until June 14, 2025, Learn the Complete Update Process

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has once again extended the deadline for free Aadhaar updates by 6 months. You can now update your Aadhaar for free until June 14, 2025, without any charges. After this date, charges will apply for updating Aadhaar. Previously, the deadline was set for December 14, 2024.

UIDAI announced on X that to benefit millions of Aadhaar cardholders, the free online document upload service has been extended until June 14, 2025. This free service is available exclusively on the myAadhaar portal.

UIDAI has extended the deadline for free Aadhaar updates for the fourth time. Previously, the deadline had been extended by three months, but this time, it has been extended by six months. The original deadline was June 14, 2024, which was later extended to September 14, 2024, and then to December 14, 2024.

UIDAI states that this initiative of free Aadhaar updates is especially for those who received their Aadhaar card 10 years ago and have not updated it even once.

To update your Aadhaar, users can visit the official UIDAI website, myAadhaar, and update their details themselves. Only demographic data can be updated online. You cannot update your biometric information, such as fingerprints or iris scan, on the UIDAI portal. For biometric updates, you will need to contact the nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Center or Aadhaar Seva Kendra.

If you’re unable to update your Aadhaar online, you can visit the nearest Aadhaar center for assistance. However, there will be a fee of ₹50 for updating both demographic and biometric data.

Mobile Number Can Only Be Updated at Aadhaar Centers

To update Aadhaar online, it is essential to update your mobile number. Without this, the Aadhaar update will not be processed online. The mobile number can only be updated at an Aadhaar Center.

  1. First, visit the official UIDAI website: myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.
  2. To log in, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number, then fill in the CAPTCHA code and click “Send OTP.”
  3. You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP and log in.
  4. Go to the “Aadhaar Update” option, then click on “Proceed to Aadhaar Update.”
  5. On the next page, select “Address” and click on the “Proceed” option for Aadhaar update.
  6. Your current address will appear. Select the option to update the address.
  7. Fill in the new address details that you want to update.
  8. You will need to submit a document that proves your new address.
  9. Then, click on the checkboxes provided and click “Next.”
  10. You will be prompted to make a payment. You can pay via UPI, net banking, or card, according to your preference.
  11. Once the payment is completed, you will receive a receipt. Your Aadhaar will be updated within approximately 30 days.

You Can Update Your Address Without Document Proof

UIDAI offers the facility to update your Aadhaar address online without document proof, with the permission of the head of the family (HOF). Under this provision, the head of the household can grant permission to update the address online for their child, spouse, or parents. Any individual above the age of 18 can become the head of the family (HOF).

Many people forget where they have kept their Aadhaar card or have trouble recalling their Aadhaar number. In such cases, you can download your e-Aadhaar card online. Follow these steps to retrieve it:

  1. First, visit the website myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.
  2. Enter your name, mobile number, and CAPTCHA code from the Aadhaar card.
  3. Click on the “Send OTP” button.
  4. Once you enter the OTP, you will receive your Aadhaar-related information.
  5. You can then download your Aadhaar card.

Alternatively, you can also call 1947 to get your Aadhaar number. You will need to answer the questions asked by customer care accurately.
