No More Office Queues: Ration Cardholders Can Do E-KYC at Home via Mobile – Step-by-Step Guide

Ration cardholders across the state have been facing difficulties with E-KYC updates. In Rajkot, the old Mamlatdar office has seen long queues for the past two weeks as people wait to complete their E-KYC. Meanwhile, the government has provided an online application system that allows users to update their E-KYC from the comfort of their homes. However, awareness about this option is limited, and complaints have arisen about agents charging fees for the service. Here’s a step-by-step guide to updating your E-KYC at home.

How to Update E-KYC at Home

First, ration cardholders need to download the “My Ration” app from the Google Play Store. After installing, click on the three horizontal lines at the top left corner of the home page. Select the “Profile” option from the menu, then choose “Link Ration Card” on the next page.

Enter your ration card number and the last four digits of your Aadhaar number, then click on “Link Your Ration Card.” Only members whose Aadhaar numbers are already linked to their ration cards can update their E-KYC through the app. If any member’s Aadhaar is not linked, they must visit their respective zonal office or taluka Mamlatdar office in person with their ration card and Aadhaar card.

If the Aadhaar is already linked, check the consent box and click “Generate Aadhaar OTP.” Enter the received OTP and click “Verify OTP.” Upon successful verification, a message stating “Your ration card has been successfully linked” will appear on the screen.

Steps for Face-Based E-KYC Through the My Ration App

After linking your ration card, restart the app to proceed with “Face-Based E-KYC.” From the home page, select the Aadhaar E-KYC menu and click on “Download Aadhaar Facerd App” to install it. Follow the instructions carefully for face authentication, check the consent box, and click “Fetch Card Details.”

  1. Enter the ration card number and click “Fetch Member Details.”
  2. Select the member and click on “Perform Aadhaar E-KYC for this Member.”
  3. Authenticate the selected member’s identity using Aadhaar, check the consent box, and click “Generate Aadhaar OTP.”
  4. Enter the received OTP, and the camera will open for face capture. Follow on-screen instructions like keeping your face straight and blinking during face authentication. Once successful, click “Submit Details for Approval” to send the application to the respective supply office.

Crowds Force Residents to Wait in Long Lines

The central government has made E-KYC mandatory for all ration cardholders. With only a month left for completion, ration cardholders who fail to update their E-KYC will no longer receive ration supplies. This has caused a massive rush at the zonal office in Rajkot’s old Collectorate, where E-KYC updates are being handled. Every day, thousands of people from distant areas arrive, with many queuing up as early as 6 a.m. to secure their spot.
