Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese hosted the Indian cricket team at Parliament House in Canberra on Thursday. PM Albanese praised Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli for their match-winning performances during the Perth Test.

During the event, PM Albanese shared interesting insights about former captain Virat Kohli’s impressive performances against the Australian team in recent years. Indian captain Rohit Sharma introduced his players to the Australian PM. To appreciate Jasprit Bumrah, Albanese stood for a moment and remarked that Bumrah’s bowling action is one of the most unique in the world.

Virat and Australian PM Share Light-hearted Moment

After meeting Jasprit Bumrah, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese shook hands with Virat Kohli and congratulated him for scoring a century in the Perth Test. PM Albanese jokingly remarked to Kohli, “It was a good time in Perth; it felt like we were already on the backfoot and things were getting worse.” Kohli replied with a smile, saying, “It’s always good to add a little spice to the game.”

Both Kohli and PM Albanese laughed at this exchange, with the PM highlighting his appreciation for Indian spices.

The Indian cricket team arrived in Canberra on Wednesday and will play a two-day practice match against the Prime Minister’s XI at Manuka Oval on Saturday and Sunday. Following this, the second Test match between India and Australia will begin in Adelaide on December 6. This will be a day-night Test featuring the pink ball.
