Two Women Officers Injured, One Dead in Lothal Accident During Soil Sampling
Lothal, an important center of Harappan civilization in Gujarat, witnessed a tragic incident today when a landslide buried two female officers. The officers had arrived from Delhi and Gandhinagar to collect soil samples. While collecting the samples, the landslide occurred, trapping both. One officer died on the spot, while the other is reported to be in critical condition.
Ongoing Maritime Museum Construction Near Lothal Site
Currently, work on the Maritime Museum is underway near the Lothal site in Ahmedabad district. Near the museum’s old excavation site, road construction was ongoing. Two female officers were collecting soil samples in a pit when a sudden landslide buried them. One officer lost her life, and the other’s condition is reported to be critical.
Officers Include IIT and Delhi-Based Geologists
According to reports, the two female officers collecting soil samples in the pit were identified as an IIT expert and a geologist from Delhi. The critically injured officer has been shifted to the government hospital in Bagodara. Bagodara police have initiated further investigations into the incident.
Collecting Soil Samples in a 10-Foot-Deep Pit
Information suggests that three officials from Gandhinagar and two from Delhi IIT had arrived at Lothal today. While digging pits near the old Lothal site to collect soil samples, the two female officers began to sink into the muddy pit. A landslide from above then buried them, leading to the fatal incident.
