Accident Involving Gujarat Pilgrims on Way to Ayodhya: 51 Injured, 5 in Critical Condition; Bus Carrying Devotees Had Departed from Ahmedabad
A bus carrying 56 devotees collided with a roadways bus in Shahjahanpur. The accident resulted in 51 passengers being injured, and all are currently receiving treatment. The bus was en route from Ahmedabad to Ayodhya, taking devotees for darshan.
The accident occurred near Feel Nagar village on the National Highway in the jurisdiction of Katra Police Station. The passengers informed the police, and a team reached the scene, transporting everyone to the hospital. After examination, doctors referred 5 individuals to the district hospital.
Driver’s Account of the Bus Collision in Shahjahanpur
Bus driver Durgesh Singh Ranawat shared his account of the incident, stating, “We had left Ahmedabad for Ayodhya. We reached near Feel Nagar village at 4 AM today, when we saw a roadways bus standing on the opposite side. While trying to avoid the bus, a truck came from the other direction.”
“I applied the brakes to avoid both vehicles, but the bus ended up crashing into the roadways bus. After the collision, the bus also hit the trees on the side of the road. As soon as the crash happened, screams echoed across the highway. Many people were injured. Some suffered head injuries, while others had injuries to their arms and legs.”
Local Villagers and Authorities Respond to Shahjahanpur Bus Accident
As soon as the accident occurred, villagers from nearby areas rushed to the scene. The driver also sustained injuries. The police were immediately notified, and soon after, Deputy District Magistrate Jeet Singh Rai, Police Area Officer Amit Chaurasia, and Station Officer Om Shankar Shukla from the local police station arrived at the scene.
All the injured passengers were rescued and taken to the hospital for immediate treatment. Currently, all the injured individuals are in stable condition. However, five passengers traveling with us were severely injured, and the doctor referred them to the district hospital.
Upon receiving news of the incident, local Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Veer Vikramsingh Prince also arrived with his team, inquiring about the condition of the injured. He distributed fruits and instructed the hospital management to provide all possible assistance and care to the victims.
