Accident at Anand’s Vasad Site in Bullet Train Project
The construction work for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project recently witnessed a tragic accident near Vasad in Anand. During operations, a girder collapsed, trapping four workers. Sadly, three have died, and one worker is in critical condition. This incident has spread fear among the local community.
Four Workers Trapped Under Collapsed Girder
For the past few months, the bullet train project work has been progressing near the Mahisagar River close to Rajpura in Vasad, Anand Taluka. Today, iron girders were being placed on the Mahisagar bridge when a girder unexpectedly collapsed, sending concrete material falling. Large stones crashed down, trapping four laborers beneath. Unfortunately, three have passed away, and one remains under critical care.
Senior Officials Arrive at the Accident Site
Upon receiving news of the accident, district police superintendent G.G. Jasani, deputy police superintendent J.N. Panchal, the Vasad police team, and the Anand fire brigade team reached the scene. Bullet train project officials were also present, and two cranes, a JCB, and the Anand fire brigade team carried out rescue operations.
Fire Officer Confirms Three Fatalities, One in Critical Condition
Fire Officer Dharmesh Gore reported that they received the call and reached the location immediately. Due to the large girders, they required cranes and JCB assistance. The first two individuals were retrieved and sent for treatment, though one succumbed to injuries while another remains in critical condition. Two more bodies were recovered later, confirming three casualties among the four trapped workers. According to company officials, all trapped workers have been accounted for, but debris removal continues to ensure no one else is trapped.
Investigation Underway
District Police Superintendent G.G. Jasani stated that an investigation will reveal how the incident occurred.
