Citroën Aircross Explorer Edition Launch: Features 6 Airbags, Automatic AC, and Competes with Hyundai Creta in Mid-Size SUV Segment

On November 4, Citroën India launched the Explorer Edition of its popular Aircross model in the Indian market. This edition comes with unique styling, featuring khaki-colored inserts on the exterior, priced at an additional ₹24,000. The exterior also includes a black hood garnish, giving it a more rugged look.

Following the reveal of the Basalt SUV coupe at the launch event, Citroën introduced the regular version of the Aircross on September 30. The car now comes with enhanced features like projector headlights, six airbags, and automatic climate control. Additionally, the company has introduced a new naturally aspirated petrol engine option for this model.

The special edition model of the Citroën Aircross is priced at ₹10.23 lakh (ex-showroom), while the initial price starts at ₹8.49 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India), reaching up to ₹14.35 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India) for the top variant. The Aircross is available in both 5-seater and 7-seater options.

In terms of competition, the Aircross competes in the segment with vehicles like the MG Astor, Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Maruti Grand Vitara. The 7-seater Aircross also serves as a strong alternative to the Mahindra Scorpio Classic.

As before, the SUV gets 17-inch dual tone alloy wheels.

What’s New in the Aircross SUV

Aside from the new name, the updated Aircross SUV features new LED projector headlights in place of the halogen ones. The ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors) are now equipped with an electrically adjustable auto-folding function. Meanwhile, the vehicle retains its previous design with 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and there are no changes to the exterior design.

Inside the cabin, the dashboard layout remains the same, but it now includes soft-touch materials for an upgraded feel. Additionally, the car comes with enhanced features such as six airbags, rear vents with automatic air conditioning, a sliding front armrest, a new flip key, grab handles, and a rear power window switch on the door cards.

6 airbags are available as standard in the mid-size SUV.

Features: 10.2-Inch Touchscreen Infotainment System

As before, the Citroën Aircross SUV is equipped with a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring 40 connected functions, along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, it includes a 7-inch digital driver display, steering-mounted audio controls, a day/night IRVM (inside rear-view mirror), and a height-adjustable driver seat.

For passenger safety, the Aircross now comes with six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), hill hold assist, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), rear parking sensors, and a rear parking camera.

The car has a 7-inch digital driver display.

Performance: New 1.2-Liter 3-Cylinder Naturally Aspirated Engine

When it comes to performance, the special edition of the SUV features the same 1.2-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine as the regular model, producing 110 hp and 170 Nm of torque when paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, as well as a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

In addition, the SUV now offers a new 1.2-liter 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, generating 81 hp and 115 Nm of torque, which is available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. This setup is also found in the C3 hatchback and Basalt coupe SUV.
