The Kannada film industry is in shock after the tragic death of director and actor Guruprasad, whose decomposed body was found in his Bengaluru apartment. Reports suggest he took his own life after battling severe financial difficulties.
Police Investigation into the Cause of Death
Neighbors reported a foul odor from Guruprasad’s apartment, leading them to inform the police. Upon entry, authorities discovered him hanging from the ceiling fan, indicating that he may have died several days earlier. Initial investigations reveal that the filmmaker had significant debt, multiple legal cases pending, and struggled under increasing pressure from creditors. His recent film “Ranganayaka” was unsuccessful at the box office, leading to severe distress.
Financial Struggles and Personal Challenges
Guruprasad, 52, had recently remarried, with his pregnant wife away visiting family at the time of his passing. Known for his directorial debut with the hit film Maatha in 2006, he also directed Eddealu Manjunatha and appeared as a contestant on Bigg Boss Kannada Season 2. At the time of his death, he was actively involved in the filming of Ademee, which is now left unfinished.
