Shocking CCTV of Fatal Accident: Elderly Cyclist Crushed by Truck While Crossing the Road in Surat, Body Dismembered

Another fatal accident has occurred in Surat. At the Una Patia Crossroads, an elderly man riding a bicycle was crossing the road when a speeding truck collided with him, crushing him to death. The truck’s tires ran over the elderly man, leaving his body in pieces. The horrific accident was captured on CCTV.

A second accident took place last night near Vatdi in Himmatnagar. Two motorcycles collided head-on, resulting in the death of two young men at the scene. Another individual sustained severe injuries and was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.

According to reports, 65-year-old Prabhakar, who resided with his family in the Vrindavan Township area of Bhestan, Surat, was making a living by selling khaman on his bicycle. Every day, he would travel to nearby areas to sell khaman. 

On the morning of October 15, he set out on his bicycle to sell khaman near Una Patia when the tragic accident occurred.

Elderly Man Crushed by 14-Wheeler Truck in Tragic Surat Accident

As Prabhakar reached the Una Patia Crossroads from Bhestan and was crossing the road with his bicycle, a speeding truck struck him. The massive 14-wheeler truck, likened to a vehicle of death, ran over him. 

Seven of the truck’s front tires crushed him, leaving his body in pieces. Some parts of his body were stuck to the road due to the heavy impact of the truck’s wheels.

Shock and Grief Spread Among Onlookers After Horrific Accident

Witnesses rushed to the scene after seeing the tragic accident, but were left horrified upon seeing the dismembered body of the elderly man. 

His remains were later taken to Surat Civil Hospital for a postmortem. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, and the police have registered the case and initiated further investigation into the accident.

Fatal Collision Between Two Motorcycles Claims Lives of Two Riders

According to information from the Gambhoi Police Station, a serious accident occurred on the state highway from Gambhoi to Bhiloda near Himmatnagar on Tuesday night. Kaushik Jashubhai Panchal from Bamna village was riding a bike (GJ-09-AZ-3079) with his friend Vishal Darji, both heading to Jenali village in Bhiloda.

Meanwhile, Mahesh Valjibhai Ninama from Chitrodi village, Vijaynagar, was riding his bike (GJ-27-DO-1634) from Bhiloda toward Gambhoi. The two bikes collided head-on near Vatdi village, resulting in a tragic accident. Both riders suffered severe injuries and died on the spot. Vishal Darji, who was riding as a passenger, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Himmatnagar Civil Hospital for treatment via 108 emergency services.

Injured Sent for Treatment, Bodies of Deceased Transferred for Postmortem

The bodies of both deceased riders were taken to the Gambhoi government hospital for postmortem. Upon being informed of the accident, Gambhoi Police arrived at the scene, took custody of the bodies, and transferred them for further examination. 

The police have also initiated the process of registering a case regarding the accident and are conducting further investigations.

Road Accidents Claim 44,480 Lives in Gujarat Over 6 Years

According to data presented by the state government in the Gujarat High Court, a total of 96,499 road accidents occurred in the state between 2018 and 2023, resulting in 44,480 deaths. In 2024 alone, from January to August, 21,193 vehicle accidents were reported, with 10,260 fatalities. 

This reflects a high death ratio of around 50%. In just July and August of this year, the state recorded 1.55 lakh cases of riding without helmets, 73,000 cases of driving without seat belts, 51,000 for overspeeding, 1.37 lakh signal violations, 4,351 cases of drunk driving, and 47,000 cases of using mobile phones while driving.
