Actor-Comedian Atul Parchure Passes Away at 57 After Battle with Cancer

Veteran actor-comedian Atul Parchure, known for his roles in films like Golmaal, Partner, and his appearances on Comedy Nights with Kapil, passed away on Monday at the age of 57 after a prolonged battle with cancer. Marathi actor Jaywant Wadkar shared the news of his demise.

Parchure Was Working on Marathi Drama Before His Health Deteriorated

At the time of his death, Atul Parchure was rehearsing for the Marathi play Suryachi Pillaee. His condition worsened during rehearsals, and he was hospitalized five days before his passing.

Bollywood and Marathi Cinema Contributions

In addition to his Bollywood films like Golmaal, Partner, and Kyun Ki, Atul Parchure left a significant mark in Marathi theater and cinema. He had a flourishing stage career and worked in many Marathi films and television serials, making him a household name.

Diagnosed with Cancer in 2022

In 2022, Atul Parchure was diagnosed with cancer. He opened up in an interview about his struggle, revealing that he had discovered a 5 cm tumor in his liver after returning from a family vacation in Australia and New Zealand. Initially, he sought incorrect treatment, which worsened his condition.

Critical Health Challenges

Atul shared that during his treatment, his health worsened to the point where walking became difficult. He had to wait a month and a half for surgery, as doctors warned him of complications. Fortunately, his condition improved with the right medications and chemotherapy, but his battle continued.

Kapil Sharma’s Team Reached Out During His Illness

During his treatment, the production team from Comedy Nights with Kapil reached out to Atul, hoping he could return to portray Sumona’s father in the show. However, due to his failing health, Atul had to decline the role.

Known for Comic Roles in TV and Films

Atul Parchure began his career with the TV show RK Laxman Ki Duniya and earned fame through his comedic performances. He played memorable roles like Dhondu in Rohit Shetty’s All the Best and appeared in Awarapan, starring Emraan Hashmi.
