India’s First High-Voltage Electric Bike Launched by Chennai Startup Raptee.HV
Chennai-based electric startup Raptee.HV has launched India’s first high-voltage electric motorcycle. According to the startup, the design of this electric bike incorporates technology used globally in electric cars. This bike is capable of competing with 250-300 cc ICE (petrol) bikes in the market.
Equipped with High-Voltage Technology and Universal Charging System
This bike is the first model in the country to come with a universal charging system, similar to those used in electric cars. It will also feature an onboard charger that can be used at CCS2 car charging stations across India.
Design and Appearance
In terms of design, the bike has a sporty appearance. Most of the body is covered, and it comes with a stylish LED headlight along with a touchscreen digital instrument cluster. The cluster displays bike speed, battery health, time, stand status, Bluetooth connectivity, and GPS navigation. The bike also has split seats and rear grab handles, reminiscent of the TVS Apache.
Performance of the Bike
The motorcycle comes with a 5.4kWh 240-volt battery, offering an IDC certified range of 200 km on a single charge. The company claims that it can cover at least 150 km on a full charge. The electric motor generates a peak power of 22kW, equivalent to 30 BHP and 70 Nm of torque.
This bike also shines in terms of acceleration, going from 0 to 60 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 135 km/h. It offers three riding modes: Comfort, Power, and Sprint.
Charging Options and Time
Raptee.HV offers various charging options, allowing users to charge the bike using a regular household socket or a fast charger at charging stations. The company claims that the battery can charge from 20% to 80% in just 40 minutes with a fast charger. Additionally, in just 20 minutes, the battery can charge enough to provide a 50 km range. Using an in-house charger, the battery can reach 80% in 1 hour.
Safety and Warranty
Raptee.HV features an IP67-rated battery pack, providing protection from dust, sunlight, and water. The company offers an 8-year or 80,000 km warranty on the bike’s battery. Advanced software features and a custom-built operating system, based on automotive-grade Linux, are included to enhance the riding experience.
Price and Availability
The price of the bike is ₹2.39 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in four color options: white, red, grey, and black. All color variants are priced the same. The official booking has already started, and the first phase of deliveries will begin in January next year, initially in Bengaluru and Chennai, followed by launches in 10 other cities. The bike can be booked on the company’s website for ₹1,000.
