Mohammed Siraj Appointed as DSP: Telangana DGP Hands Over Appointment Letter After T20 World Cup Victory Announcement by Chief Minister
Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been appointed as a DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police) by the Telangana government. On Friday, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana handed over the appointment letter to Siraj.
Earlier, boxer Nikhat Zareen was also appointed as a DSP by the Telangana government. Zareen is a two-time world champion.
Telangana Government’s Announcement of DSP Appointment
Following India’s victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, Telangana’s Chief Minister, K. Chandrashekar Rao, had announced that Siraj would be offered a government job along with a land plot.
Played Three Matches in T20 World Cup 2024
Mohammed Siraj played three matches for India in the 2024 T20 World Cup. He took one wicket in the match against Ireland, gave away 25 runs in the match against the USA, and 19 runs against Pakistan.
Siraj Rested for Bangladesh T20 Series
Siraj was rested for the three-match T20 series against Bangladesh. The final match of the series will be played on Saturday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. Mayank Yadav and Harshita Rana have been included in the squad in his place. Siraj took 4 wickets in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

The 30-year-old fast bowler has played 28 Tests, 44 ODIs, and 16 T20Is for India, taking 76 wickets in Tests, 71 in ODIs, and 14 in T20Is. In the IPL, he has taken 93 wickets in 93 matches.
Included in the Home Series Against New Zealand
On Friday, Mohammed Siraj was included in the Indian squad for the three-match home Test series against New Zealand. He will lead India’s pace attack alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Aakash Deep.
