Rahul Gandhi Questions EVM Integrity After Unexpected Haryana Election Results; Promises In-Depth Analysis of the Outcomes

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has responded to the election results in Haryana and Jammu-Kashmir. In a social media post on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi expressed, “Heartfelt thanks to the people of Jammu and Kashmir – the victory of INDIA in the state is a victory of the Constitution and a victory of democratic pride.

We are analyzing the unexpected results in Haryana. Complaints arising from several assembly constituencies will be reported to the Election Commission. A heartfelt thank you to all the people of Haryana for their support and to our dedicated party workers for their tireless efforts.”

Congress Alleges Manipulation in Election Results

Following the election results, the Congress party held a press conference, accusing the Election Commission and claiming that this is not a victory for democracy but for the system. The party does not accept the results.

Congress leaders Pawan Khera and Jairam Ramesh, during the press conference, stated that the results in Haryana are highly unexpected and that they cannot accept them. Serious complaints have emerged from several districts.

Pawan Khera Calls Election Results Shocking and Unacceptable

Pawan Khera stated that the results are shocking and completely contrary to what they observed at the ground level. They have received complaints related to vote counting from their party workers. He emphasized, “We will be filing a formal complaint soon. This is not a victory for democracy but for the system. We cannot accept this.”

Congress Raises Concerns Over EVMs

Before Rahul Gandhi’s statements, Congress leader Udit Raj questioned the integrity of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) regarding the Jammu-Kashmir election results. Udit Raj noted that the BJP faced a significant defeat in Jammu and Kashmir.

He asked, “If Article 370 and the Ram Mandir have both flopped, where are they getting their votes from?” The Congress leader alleged that the BJP is winning dishonestly through EVMs, asserting that elections should not be conducted using them.

Jairam Ramesh added that they will approach the Election Commission within a day or two to file a formal complaint, stating that local officials were under pressure. He mentioned that there are many constituencies where they should not have lost, but they did. “The results go against the sentiment of the people. Jammu and Kashmir have given a clear mandate. We will work to restore the state’s status. A common minimum program will be developed,” he concluded.

BJP Wins 48 Seats, Congress Secures 37 in Assembly Elections

In the assembly elections, the BJP won 48 seats, allowing them to maintain power and form the government for the third consecutive term, while the Congress secured 37 seats. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) won two seats, and independent candidates won three seats.

Both the Jananayak Janata Party (JJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) did not achieve any success in the elections. The vote share for BJP and Congress was nearly identical, with the BJP receiving 39.94% of the votes and Congress getting 39.09%.

Raghav Chadha Criticizes Congress for Election Losses

Raghav Chadha of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has criticized Congress, suggesting that their failure to negotiate an alliance with AAP has caused significant damage, as reflected in the election results from five assembly seats in Haryana. In Uchana Kalan, Congress lost by just 32 votes, receiving 2,306 votes while AAP garnered 2,495 votes. In Assandh, Congress lost by 2,306 votes, with AAP securing 4,290 votes.

Additionally, in Dabwali, Congress lost by 610 votes, while AAP candidates received 6,606 votes. Similarly, in Dadri, AAP received 1,339 votes, resulting in Congress losing by 1,957 votes. In Mahendragarh, Congress lost by 2,648 votes, obtaining only 1,740 votes. This indicates that AAP directly harmed Congress in these five constituencies. Chadha suggested that had both parties formed an alliance, they might have been able to win these seats. Of the five, BJP won four seats, and INLD secured one.
