Indian Wrestler Makes History: Wins Gold Twice at U-20 World Wrestling Championship Finals, Defeats Mariana 4-0

Savita also secured the title in the 62 kg category. On Thursday, Priya Malik clinched the championship in the 76 kg category. In the 62 kg final, Savita defeated Venezuela’s E. Paula. The Under-20 World Wrestling Championship 2023 is taking place between August 14 and 20 at the Amman International Stadium in Jordan.
In Asian Games 2023, India will be represented. Later, Vinesh Phogat faced disappointment in Asian Games trials. India’s star wrestler Vinesh Phogat, while training in Rohtak, withdrew her name from the Indian team participating in the ongoing Asian Games due to various reasons. After Vinesh’s withdrawal, the final bout winner in the 53 kg women’s category and the 65 kg men’s category, Bajrang Punia, will lead India’s representation in the upcoming Asian Games.
The ad-hoc committee formed by the Indian Olympic Association has directly sent wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia to participate in the Asian Games 2022. This decision has been taken after the Delhi High Court’s appeal by the final bout and Sushil Kumar. Although the High Court had dismissed their appeal.
After this, the path for Vinesh and Bajrang to participate in the Asian Games became clear. However, Vinesh faced setbacks and has now withdrawn her name from the ongoing Asian Games. Consequently, Bajrang Punia, in good spirits, will now represent India in the 53 kg category at the upcoming Asian Games.
