PM Modi Visits Shalin-2 Society in Vavol: Inspects Solar Panels at Bungalow No. 53, Engages with Beneficiaries of Surya Ghar Yojana
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently in his home state of Gujarat. Before attending the Renewable Energy Meet and Expo at Mahatma Mandir on September 16, the PM visited the homes of beneficiaries of the Surya Ghar Yojana from Raj Bhavan.
He visited bungalow number 53 in the Shalin-2 Society of Vavol, Gandhinagar, and observed the solar panels installed on the roof.
Residents of nearby societies climbed onto their rooftops to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister. During his visit, he interacted with the beneficiaries of the scheme. Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, individuals installing rooftop solar systems receive a subsidy of up to ₹78,000.
Additionally, it is estimated that this system can generate earnings of up to ₹15,000 annually. Let’s learn more about the PM Surya Ghar Yojana and the benefits it offers.
PM Modi Visits Bungalow Number 53
The Vavol area has a scheme consisting of 100 apartments and 25 bungalows, with a total of 14,000 registered voters. So far, 89 families have benefited from the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. In the Shalin-2 Society, which has 65 bungalows, 22 homes have installed solar panels.
PM Modi visited bungalow number 53, where he personally inspected the solar panels installed on the roof.
Gandhinagar City-District Benefits the Most
Gandhinagar’s corporator and former mayor, Premalsinh Gole, informed Divya Bhaskar that since Vavol is located very close to Mahatma Mandir, the Prime Minister chose to visit this area. Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, Gandhinagar city-district has benefited the most from the scheme.
Economic Benefits from PM Surya Ghar Yojana: Society Chairman
Before the Prime Minister’s visit, Suresh Chaudhary, the chairman of Shalin-2 Society, shared that the PM’s solar project is an ambitious scheme. Homeowners receive a subsidy for installing solar panels, resulting in significant economic benefits.
Additionally, solar energy helps reduce the pollution caused by electricity generation. In our society, 22 houses have operational solar systems, and each homeowner is reaping the maximum financial benefit from it.
As residents of Vavol, we can confidently say that we will promote this scheme to ensure that 100% of homes install solar panels and everyone can benefit from free electricity.
20 Lakh Families in Gujarat to Benefit from the Scheme
Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, the government has established subsidies for residential homes. A subsidy of ₹30,000 is provided for solar panels with a 1 kW rooftop solar plant capacity, ₹60,000 for a 2 kW capacity, and ₹78,000 for a 3 kW capacity, as determined by the central government.
The scheme aims to provide free electricity to a total of 1 crore families in India at a cost of ₹75,000 crore. Out of this, 20 lakh homes in Gujarat will benefit from the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.
How to Receive Subsidy After Installing a Solar Plant
Once the solar plant is installed and the DISCOM sets up net metering, the evidence and certification will be uploaded to the portal. Following this, the government will transfer the full subsidy amount directly to the customer’s bank account under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
Will 300 Units of Electricity Be Free Under This Scheme?
A 1 kW solar plant generates approximately 3-4 units of electricity per day. In this case, if you install a 3 kW plant, it will generate around 12 units of electricity daily, totaling about 360 units per month.
You can use this electricity, and any surplus electricity will be sent back to the grid through net metering, for which you’ll receive payment. The government estimates that you can earn around ₹15,000 annually from the electricity generated by this system.
