2 Soldiers Martyred, 2 Injured in Kishtwar Encounter, Jammu & Kashmir; Army Kills 1 Terrorist, Search Operation Ongoing Before Elections

An encounter is ongoing between security forces and terrorists at two locations in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of PM Modi’s rally on Saturday. In Kishtwar, two soldiers have been martyred, and two others are injured. In Baramulla, one terrorist has been neutralized.

The two martyred soldiers have been identified as Naib Subedar Vipin Kumar and Constable Arvind Singh of the White Knight Corps. Two other soldiers are injured. Security forces have surrounded 3-4 terrorists in the forest areas.

According to officials, they received intelligence about the presence of three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists hiding in the Naidgam village of the Chhatr belt. Following this, the security forces launched a search operation.

As per news agency ANI, the encounter began around 3:30 PM on Friday. The operation is ongoing. A local resident mentioned that the army has surrounded the area and the situation is tense.

Encounter in Baramulla, Two Terrorists Killed in Kathua

An encounter also broke out in the Chak Tepar Kreeri Pattan area of Baramulla late last night. The Kashmir Zone Police shared this information in a post on X. Both police and army personnel are present at the site, but no further details have been revealed yet.

Earlier, the army carried out an operation in Kathua’s Khandara, where soldiers from the Rising Star Corps neutralized two terrorists. The army shared this update via a post on X, stating that a large cache of weapons was recovered from the terrorists.

On September 11, security forces had killed three terrorists in Udhampur. The army stated that the First Para soldiers received intel about 2-3 terrorists hiding in the forests of Khandara Top, Udhampur. After a nearly four-hour-long encounter, the terrorists were neutralized.

PM Modi’s Rally in Doda, Jammu & Kashmir Today; Voting in Kishtwar and 3 Districts on September 18

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a mega rally in Doda, Jammu & Kashmir, on Saturday. This marks the beginning of his election campaign in support of BJP candidates for the upcoming assembly elections.

Through this rally, PM Modi will appeal for votes to secure the victory of candidates from eight assembly seats across three districts: Chenab Valley, Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban. Voting in these areas is scheduled for September 18.

PM Modi will be the first Prime Minister to visit Doda in 50 years, with the last visit by any PM being in 1982. In the 2014 elections, PM Modi had visited Kishtwar but not Doda.

The Jammu & Kashmir assembly elections will take place in three phases across 90 seats. The second phase of voting will occur on September 25, and the third phase on October 1, with the results to be declared on October 8. These are the first assembly elections in Jammu & Kashmir in 10 years, with the last election held in 2014.

Ceasefire Violation by Pakistani Soldiers in Akhnoor, Jammu & Kashmir

On the night of September 10-11, at 2:35 AM, Pakistani soldiers violated the ceasefire along the border in Akhnoor, Jammu & Kashmir. In response, BSF soldiers also opened fire. One BSF soldier was injured in the exchange of gunfire.

A BSF spokesperson stated that the extent of damage inflicted on Pakistan is yet to be determined. Following the incident, BSF soldiers are maintaining strict vigilance along the border.
